Before the 2022 NFL season, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Cooper Rush played only ten games in five years.
He only had one start: a 2021 Week 8 victory against the Minnesota Vikings.
But he responded well when the Cowboys lost Dak Prescott to a thumb injury.
The Cowboys haven’t lost in his two starts this season, giving him a 3-0 career record when he takes the first snap.
His efforts gave Dallas its second victory in three games.
Likewise, Rush is establishing records while giving Cowboys fans something to cheer for.
Cooper Rush is the first undrafted QB to win each of his first 3 NFL starts and throw for 750+ yards over those starts since @kurt13warner in 1999 with the Rams.

NFL Research tweeted, “Cooper Rush is the first undrafted QB to win each of his first 3 NFL starts and throw for 750+ yards over those starts since @kurt13warner in 1999 with the Rams. Warner went on to win NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP that season.”
Warner replaced Trent Green that season and led the Rams to victory in Super Bowl XXXIV.
Defeating the Giants also serves as poetic justice for Rush, as NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero shared.
Pelissero tweeted, “The #Giants claimed Cooper Rush off waivers from the #Cowboys in 2020, then cut him. Twice. Out of the NFL for a month, before Dallas re-signed him after Dak Prescott’s injury that year, Rush is now 3-0 as starting QB after throwing for 215 yards and a TD in tonight’s 23-16 win.”
Cowboys Fans Put Their Faith In Rush
Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones told the team’s loyal fans to have some faith in the team after Prescott’s injury.
He is looking like a prophet after the team’s consecutive victories over the Giants and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Rush will have an opportunity to make it 4-0 as a starter if the Cowboys defeat the Washington Commanders in Week 4.
If that happens, Dallas will have a quarterback controversy on their hands with Prescott competing with Rush for the starting role.
