The Washington Commanders are set to face the arch-rival Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game.
In order for Washington to walk out of Philadelphia with a win, it’s going to have to contain Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Commanders defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. had a message for Hurts and the Eagles ahead of the matchup.
“We are going to treat him like a running back. We are going to hit him that way. That’s their decision if they want to get him hit the way that he gets hit,” Whitt said, via Dov Kleiman.

Hurts has been a very mobile quarterback throughout his career.
He has 3,133 career rushing yards and has eclipsed 600 rushing yards in the past four of his five NFL seasons.
Additionally, the Commanders were the third-worst team in the NFL in the regular season when it comes to run defense (137.5 allowed yards per game).
They are going to have to be better than that if they hope to be successful against Hurts and the Eagles’ ground attack, which is led by running back Saquon Barkley.
Commanders fans should love the energy that Whitt and the rest of the team are bringing to the table.
They aren’t afraid of the Eagles and are seemingly ready to meet their NFC East rivals head-on in a hostile environment with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line.
This is a situation the franchise has not been in for a long, long time.
