Despite rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson going down earlier in the year with a season-ending injury and star running back Jonathan Taylor unable to play until after he came off injured reserve, the Indianapolis Colts have been able to stay afloat in the AFC, with the team sporting a record of 6-5 after 11 games played.
Even though no one is picking the Colts to go the distance and win it all, Indianapolis still has a shot at being playoff-bound this season, and any team in the league will take that opportunity.
Unfortunately, it appears that Taylor needs to undergo thumb surgery, which could have him missing some time in the final stretch of the 2023 NFL regular season, which might hurt their chances of clinching a spot in the NFL playoffs.
According to Ari Meirov, Colts owner Jim Irsay is hopeful that Taylor can return to action in two to three weeks, which isn’t as severe as one would think with the running back having to go under the knife.

As Meirov pointed out, Zack Moss will take over as the lead back for now with Taylor on the mend, which he seems more than capable of doing as he’s having a solid season thus far and might be able to crack the 1,000-yard rushing mark.
Moss has carried the football 141 times for 672 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 4.8 yards per carry.
The final stretch of the regular season will be interesting, to say the least, with a lot of winnable games on the schedule, meaning this team could very well be headed to the postseason.
