It’s that time of year where every team is conducting meetings with NFL drafts prospects.
The Indianapolis Colts recently met with Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs, according to Jordan Reid.
The Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks also met with Diggs, so the Colts aren’t the only team interested in the star corner.
Diggs is coming off an incredible 2019 campaign with the Crimson Tide, but would he be a good fit in Indianapolis?

The Colts could use help in the secondary, so taking a look at Diggs is a smart idea.
Kenny Moore II is a lock slot-corner, but the Colts don’t have many weapons after that.
Having Diggs would be an upgrade over Quincy Wilson on the outside.
Diggs would obviously be an upgrade on the current depth chart, but is it a reach for the Colts to grab him with the 13th pick?
The Colts have the No. 34 pick as well, so there’s a chance that Diggs drops that far, but many projections have him going in the late first round.
Upgrading the pass rush is also something the Colts should be focusing on, so they might take an elite pass rusher with their earlier pick.

Diggs’ College Career
Diggs started out his career at Alabama as a wide receiver, but he switched to corner after not making much of an impact as a receiver.
He hauled in 11 receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown during his freshman season in Alabama.
After that, Diggs switched to defense and became one of the best corners in the SEC.
In 2019, Diggs finished with 20 solo tackles, 37 total tackles, and three interceptions.
Diggs had 68 total tackles, four interceptions, and two fumbles forced during his three seasons as a cornerback in Alabama.
He picked up third-team Associated Press All-American and second-team All-SEC accolades during his senior year.
Diggs is an accomplished four-year player that appears to be one of the best corners heading to the draft this summer.

Compared to Aquib Talib
Diggs has the size at 6’1 with length that makes him a special type of talent heading into the draft.
The fact he’s a former wide receiver gives him some insight on what the opposing receiver could be thinking.
He’s a starting press-man corner in the NFL with unique size and strength that make him stand out from the rest of the pack.
However, Diggs is inconsistent staying in phase with downfield routes and long speed is his kryptonite, according to NFL Analyst Lance Zierlein.
There are strengths and weaknesses to every player, but Diggs has the height and length to match up with receivers that many other corners cannot.
Lance Zierlein compares Diggs to Aqib Talib, so that’s a huge honor for him, and the Colts would be getting an absolute steal if that comparison is accurate.

Drafting Diggs with the No.13 pick could be a bit early, but it could very well pay off for the Colts.
He had four successful seasons in Alabama while learning from one of the best college football head coaches in Nick Saban.
The Colts are in desperate need of secondary help and this would be a huge improvement going into the season.
There’s always the option of trading up from the No. 34 pick if they really love Diggs that much.
It’ll be interesting to see what the Colts do on draft day, but hopefully, an upgrade to the secondary is coming shortly.
