The Indianapolis Colts headed into the 2022 season with heads high and seemed confident in their ability to succeed.
They ended the season with a record of 4-12-1, and find themselves in yet another difficult position heading into 2023.
Chris Ballard: “I still think Matt Ryan still has something left, in his body, to play.”
Ballard admits the annual change at quarterback is one of his biggest mistakes.

The Colts haven’t started a season with the same quarterback in back-to-back seasons in six years.
In the past six seasons, their starting quarterbacks have been Matt Ryan, Carson Wentz, Philip Rivers, Jacoby Brissett, Andrew Luck, and Jacoby Brissett (again).
Simply put, the Colts have a quarterback conundrum on their hands.
Although Ryan is on the books for another year as the Colts’ quarterback, many have wondered if the team will continue to roll him out at quarterback, given their lack of success this season.
The Colts do have two picks in the first 36 of this year’s draft, and could very easily draft a quarterback with one of those picks.
This year’s draft could produce several starting-caliber options at the quarterback position, and the Colts might not be able to turn down the talent that will likely be available when they are making their selections.
The Colts’ GM, Chris Ballard, will have a monumental decision on his hands when it comes to the draft, as well as the future of Ryan.
The AFC South is one of the divisions in the league that will be up for grabs in 2023, given that there is not one, or even two teams that are a lock for the division title.
With a few changes, particularly at quarterback, the Colts could contend for this division again.
