The Los Angeles Rams had a disastrous Super Bowl title defense last year, when they won just five games, partly due to a number of injuries to key players.
They then dismantled the defense that helped them win the Super Bowl in February 2022 when they traded star cornerback Jalen Ramsey and let linebacker Bobby Wagner return north to the Seattle Seahawks.
The Rams have already suffered another injury prior to the new season as wide receiver Cooper Kupp has an injured hamstring and could miss the next few weeks.
Some feel they are bound for another dismal year, but commentator Colin Cowherd is more optimistic about their chances of being competitive.
"I'm not being a homer here. I do not understand this five win Rams talk."

Los Angeles may end up having problems on defense, but they still have Aaron Donald, who is one of the NFL’s best defensive tackles.
Cowherd also pointed out that the team still has a wonderful core between Kupp, who is an outstanding receiver when healthy, quarterback Matthew Stafford, and head coach Sean McVay.
One saving grace for the Rams may be the fact that the NFC lacks depth, which could allow them to sneak into the playoffs.
However, their schedule will be difficult, as they will start the season against the upstart Seattle Seahawks, and in Week 2 they will face the San Francisco 49ers, a team they always seem to have trouble with.
In Week 3, the Rams will visit the Cincinnati Bengals, and two weeks later they will play the defending conference champion Philadelphia Eagles.
Los Angeles will need to rack up multiple upsets this season, or else Cowherd’s prediction may end up being wrong.
