The Kansas City Chiefs made a notable roster move this week, parting ways with Clyde Edwards-Helaire to make room for Marquise “Hollywood” Brown’s return from injured reserve.
Despite nearly five seasons with the Chiefs ending on a mixed note, Edwards-Helaire quickly landed in a situation that could revitalize his NFL career.
The running back’s next chapter is already taking shape in New Orleans.
Saints insider Nick Underhill reported Edwards-Helaire signed with the team on Wednesday, following Alvin Kamara’s injury in Sunday’s loss to the Commanders.

While the Saints have reliable options in Kendre Miller and Jamaal Williams to fill Kamara’s shoes, Edwards-Helaire’s veteran presence adds valuable depth to their backfield during this challenging stretch.
Looking back, Edwards-Helaire’s journey in Kansas City started with promise.
The 2020 first-round pick burst onto the NFL scene with an impressive rookie campaign, racking up 1,100 scrimmage yards and five touchdowns.
However, his role gradually diminished over the following seasons, with his carries dropping significantly from 181 in 2020 to just 70 in 2023.
This season proved even tougher, as he found himself stuck behind Isiah Pacheco, Kareem Hunt, Carson Steele, and Samaje Perine on the depth chart, without seeing any game action.
After beginning the season on the non-football illness list, this move to New Orleans could be exactly what Edwards-Helaire needs to end the year strong.
The timing feels right for a homecoming to Louisiana, where he previously starred on LSU’s 2019 national championship team.
With the Saints not facing the Green Bay Packers until Monday night, Edwards-Helaire has extra time to settle into his new surroundings before potentially making his debut.
