After surrendering first place in the NL West to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Arizona Diamondbacks have gotten back on track and, once again, look like one of the most dangerous teams in the National League.
They have won seven of their last ten contests and have a 20-15 record, good enough for second in the West just behind the 21-15 Dodgers.
In the month of May, they have been carried by a surprising star: it’s not Corbin Carroll or Zac Gallen, although they both have been very good.
It’s slugger Christian Walker.
“Christian Walker over his last 9 games: .425 AVG (17-40 AB), 3 2B, 6 HR, 13 RBI, 11 R,” MLB Network tweeted.

13 RBI in his last nine games is amazing, for lack of a better word.
Over that span, he has hit one extra-base hit per game, and it’s fair to say he has his power stroke going at the moment.
We shouldn’t really be all that surprised by his performance.
After all, he homered 36 times last year.
This year, he is up to nine round-trippers and an incredible 28 RBI.
However, he is doing it with a much better batting average than his .242 mark in 2022.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Walker is slashing a robust .289/.324/.563.
The 32-year-old has become an incredibly valuable player for the D-Backs, if we also factor in his incredible defense at first base.
He is quietly one of the best and most productive players in the NL West.
There are a lot of exciting young players on the D-Backs roster, but having productive veterans like Walker is just as important.
