The San Francisco 49ers were so close to the ultimate glory.
However, questionable play-calling, a hard-to-explain overtime decision, and some offensive miscues set Kyle Shanahan’s team back.
One of their biggest mistakes came from their best player.
Star RB Christian McCaffrey failed to hold onto the ball and fumbled in the first half on a crucial drive that could’ve helped them secure points.
Now, the Stanford product admits that he hasn’t been able to stop replaying that very same moment in his head, adding that he just cannot make those kinds of mistakes.
The former Carolina Panthers star stated that he would obviously want to have that moment back, but that’s just how things go in sports and life (Via 49ers on NBC Sports).

McCaffrey had a season for the ages.
He reaffirmed his position as the best running back in the game by a significant margin, running away with the AP Offensive Player of the Year award and even being a legitimate candidate for MVP as well.
The Niners wouldn’t have reached the final game of the season if it wasn’t for McCaffrey’s unmatched offensive impact, so no one on the team will be blaming him for his miscue.
Even so, he would likely trade all the milestones and impressive numbers he had for a chance to relive that play and change the outcome.
Hopefully, he’s going to have another chance to win the ultimate game at some point in his career, as he’s just too good.
