The Minnesota Vikings no longer have a starting-caliber quarterback on their team.
Kirk Cousins fled to join the Atlanta Falcons shortly after the legal tampering period started.
It was kind of a shocking turn of events, considering Cousins had claimed he wouldn’t waive his no-trade clause last season because he wanted to stay in the Twin Cities.
Now, the Falcons lost him without getting anything in return.
Even so, the fans and analysts aren’t holding that against Cousins.
Instead, NFL analyst Chris Simms ripped the Vikings over their decision to let him go.
He called Cousins a top 10/12 quarterback and stated he couldn’t understand why they let him go over a few million.
“The more and more I think about it, the more I ask what the hell the Vikings were thinking letting Kirk Cousins out the door. A top 10-12 QB over a few million??” Simms said.

Cousins was having one of the best years of his career before suffering a season-ending injury.
Then again, he has a 1-4 record in the postseason and comes with a long list of well-documented meltdowns in primetime games and against winning teams.
Cousins will surpass $400 million in career earnings and has only reached the playoffs five times, not to mention he’s 35 years old and coming off a major injury, so it’s easy to understand why the Vikings were more than willing to let him walk away if it came down to it.
Of course, they’ll have a tough time finding a new starting-caliber quarterback, especially since they don’t have a top-three pick.
But it’s not like they wouldn’t have to go through this pretty soon anyway, so this shouldn’t be the end of the world for them by any means.
