The Kansas City Chiefs have found themselves in a difficult situation with one of their top players.
Chris Jones hasn’t been spotted at training camp over a contractual dispute.
While the Chiefs have maintained that they’ll get a deal done before the season starts, Jones is still without an extension.
As Sports Illustrated has recently pointed out, Jones has now reached over $1 million in fines.

Every day that Jones holds out, another $50,000 is tacked on to his overall fine total.
It appears that until the Chiefs give him the extension he seeks, Jones will continue to sit out.
Jones was one of the Chiefs’ top defenders last season and finished as a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year.
If he misses any regular season games due to a holdout, the defense will suffer.
Many analysts have predicted the Chiefs to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
However, an absence of Jones could put that in serious jeopardy.
Every day the Chiefs leave Jones’ contract unresolved is another chance he misses to develop chemistry with his teammates.
Will the organization get this situation finalized before the season starts?
That remains to be seen.
The Chiefs are seeking another top spot in the AFC, hoping to get back to the AFC Championship for the sixth-straight year.
Patrick Mahomes can only take the team so far, as the offense still needs the defense’s help to put them in a positive position.
With any luck, this contract will be resolved in the next few days, getting Jones back on the field.
