On Monday morning, no one was talking about the outcome of Game 2 of the NBA Finals, with the Los Angeles Lakers and superstar forward LeBron James dominating the headlines once again.
This time, it wasn’t the possible retirement of James that stole the headlines, but rather the four-time NBA champion potentially teaming up with Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic on the Dallas Mavericks.
Shams Charania of The Athletic and Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes reported that Irving is actively recruiting James to join him in Dallas.
Obviously, this is a wild rumor, as it doesn’t seem plausible or likely that the Mavericks would be able to land James in a trade, nor would the Lakers send him elsewhere without a substantial trade haul coming back to Los Angeles in return.
Chris Broussard of Fox Sports believes that if this rumor is true, Doncic should be unhappy with Irving and urge the Mavs front office to trade the one-time champion via First Things First.
"If I'm Luka, I'm none too pleased [with Kyrie]. If I'm him I'd say, 'I got this. We were rolling before the Kyrie trade & now he's trying to rebuild the roster?! Trade Kyrie for some depth. This is my team.'"

One thing that has consistently followed Irving to every team he’s played on since leaving James and the Cleveland Cavaliers is drama.
Irving rubbed the Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, and Brooklyn Nets the wrong way before he was ultimately traded, as he can’t seem to avoid being involved with drama on and off the floor.
Outside of Cleveland, due to his incredible game-winning shot in the NBA Finals over Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Irving has been a player that teams have regretted taking a gamble on.
The Mavericks could be the next in line, as he’s already created a drama scene in Dallas and shed doubt on whether the team should sign him long-term.
