Ever since Kyrie Irving joined the Dallas Mavericks months ago, people have been wondering if his addition to the team will really work out.
So far, it hasn’t: the Mavericks failed to even make the playoffs last season.
Charles Barkley recently sat down on “The Bill Simmons Podcast” and said he doubts the combination of Irving and Luka Doncic on the Mavericks.
“I don’t think the Luka, Kyrie thing’s gonna work,” Barkley said and Simmons quickly agreed.

Irving is one of the most talented guards in the NBA and there is no doubt that Doncic is also a superstar untouched by many others in the league.
So, why wouldn’t this duo work out?
Some people believe that Irving and Doncic make one another redundant.
They both fill similar roles on the court and share play styles too.
Others believe that Irving messes with team chemistry, partly because of his demands for the ball.
How can he be running plays when Doncic wants to do the same thing?
They are both known for their reliance on iso-ball and are not especially keen on sharing.
But the Mavericks really believe in the idea of Irving and Doncic playing together.
That’s why they just re-signed Irving to a new deal and have consistently said they see him as part of the team’s future.
Yet, many fans claim that the team will need more than just Irving and Doncic.
The Mavericks need to bolster their frontcourt, those people say.
Without that, all the talent in the world won’t lead to a championship.
