CC Sabathia had a really impressive career in MLB.
He retired in 2019, but left his mark on three organizations: the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians), the New York Yankees, and the Milwaukee Brewers.
He spent seven and a half years in Cleveland, and 11 with the Bombers, with half a season with the Brewers in 2008.
After retiring, he has been getting in shape and occasionally shares his thoughts on a podcast.
But now, he will have a new role in MLB, one that could result in some good things for baseball.
“After a 19-year career, @CC_Sabathia is the newest Special Assistant to the Commissioner. An advocate for amplifying diversity, strengthening the sport, and impacting the community, CC will bring a player’s perspective as a liaison for decision making. Welcome, CC! #LegaCCy,” the league’s official Twitter account wrote.

It Will Be Fascinating To Learn About Sabathia’s Specific Goals And Role
The role could make or break Sabathia’s public perception.
Commissioner Rob Manfred is certainly not the most popular person in baseball, but perhaps Sabathia and his connection to players may help him improve that image and, as a result, bring good things for the sport.
If Sabathia can persuade Manfred to pay more attention to players’ needs and desires, and he concedes in some situations, it’s a win-win situation.
The league’s note says that Sabathia’s role is destined to “amplifying diversity and strengthening the sport,” and he should have no problems thriving as long as the Commissioner cooperates.
His role will also be directed to “impacting the community,” so it will be fascinating to watch if Sabathia ends up helping the game reach more places.
Only time will tell if Sabathia’s collaboration with the league will be positive, but in theory, he should have what it takes to succeed in his role.
