During his first season in the NBA, Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs has proven that he’s definitely one of the best rookies in the league and could really be a once-in-a-lifetime talent.
But his team is still lacking in some big ways and there is something missing in San Antonio.
Speaking on “7PM in Brooklyn,” Carmelo Anthony said that Trae Young would be a great fit alongside Wembanyama.
He said that Young would bring a certain type of energy that would help Wembanyama and the Spurs.
This isn’t the first time that Spurs fans have heard the idea of Young joining the Spurs.
There have been countless rumors about Young leaving the Atlanta Hawks this summer.
And many analysts and fans think he would be a wonderful addition to the Spurs, for a number of reasons.
Not only is he a great guard and terrific ball-handler, but Young could also craft a great partnership with Wembanyama.
The French rookie obviously has tons of talent but it’s not enough to carry the Spurs into the playoffs.
That’s why they are currently the worst team in the Western Conference with a 13-50 record.
If San Antonio’s front office could build a stronger team around Wembanyama, they could have a real shot at reaching the playoffs next season.
Young could be a huge part of that.
For the last few years, the rumors of Young growing unhappy in Atlanta have only grown and he is one to watch in the months ahead.
While he would definitely do well with Wembanyama, the Spurs wouldn’t be the only team trying to land him.
For example, the Los Angeles Lakers are just one of the multiple other teams that would try to acquire Young this summer.
