On Wednesday, the St. Louis Cardinals were firing on all cylinders against the Minnesota Twins.
They jumped out to an early 4-0 lead with three home runs in the second inning.
Tyler O’Neill, Jordan Walker, and Lars Nootbaar each homered in the second before Alec Burleson’s third-inning homer made it a 7-0 game.
In doing so, they made some important Cardinals history.
The last time three Cardinals outfielders had homered in the same game was on September 24, 2021, when Nootbaar, O’Neill, and Harrison Bader each went deep.
O’Neill went deep twice in that game.
But last night’s outfield trio also homered in the same inning.
The last time that was accomplished was in 2002, when Albert Pujols, Jim Edmonds, and Eli Marrero did it on September 19.
Cardinals writer John Denton took note of this accomplishment on Twitter.

The Cardinals are a franchise with a great tradition and a history of winning.
Some impressive feats have been accomplished along the way as well.
It had been almost 21 full years since a trio of St. Louis outfielders had all homered in the same inning.
But on Wednesday, O’Neill, Walker, and Nootbaar accomplished the feat.
Interestingly enough, O’Neill and Nootbaar were teammates with Pujols last year, which marked 20 years since the Cardinals had accomplished such a feat.
But they followed in their former teammate’s footsteps on Wednesday against the Twins, and it proved to be enough for St. Louis to pick up their first win in the month of August.
