On Friday night, New York Mets first baseman and slugger Pete Alonso found himself at the center of attention at Busch Stadium.
When St. Louis Cardinals rookie shortstop Masyn Winn picked up his first Major League hit, the Mets first baseman made a crucial mistake, throwing the ball into the stands as opposed to the Cardinals dugout.
This prompted Cardinals fans to erupt in boos while members of the team yelled at Alonso from the dugout.
Many people in St. Louis were shocked by what took place.
Brandon Kiley, a St. Louis sports radio host, chimed in and gave his opinion on what happened.
Pete Alonso 100% knew what he was doing. https://t.co/S3V0B9k10k

Kiley stated that he thinks Alonso knew exactly what he was doing.
More than likely, it is a sentiment shared by most Cardinals fans.
Though it’s not 100 percent certain as to whether or not Alonso knew what he was doing in that moment, Cardinals fans were not pleased.
Media members in St. Louis were also shocked by Alonso’s decision to throw the ball into the stands.
There are certainly reasons as to why Cardinals fans may think this was done intentionally.
Winn’s debut had been something that fans were waiting for.
Fans had been anticipating the excitement for quite some time, and the City of St. Louis was buzzing.
Winn is the top prospect within the Cardinals system now that Jordan Walker has graduated from that status.
But Kiley made his opinion on the matter clear, stating he believes that Alonso’s actions were intentional.
The Mets won the game 7-1, but the story of the game was what took place after Winn’s first big-league hit.
