Cam Thomas of the Brooklyn Nets has heard the comments about him, and he is pushing back.
Analyst Zach Lowe recently called Thomas an “empty calories ball hog,” and the Nets star isn’t happy about that.
He recently touched upon his feelings about this accusation.
“I didn’t really put too much into it. But at the same time, you know, it gets frustrating, whether you want to admit or not, that people keep trying to spread these narratives and lies about you that just isn’t true, and without actually looking at the facts and watching the games,” Thomas said.

Lowe and others weren’t surprised that the Nets didn’t recently offer Thomas a larger deal.
He agreed to a one-year, $6 million qualifying contract, which was far less than what he wanted.
Some people feel that Brooklyn wasn’t willing to give Thomas more because he hasn’t proven he’s worth it.
Although he produced an average of 24.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists on 43.8 percent from the field last season, some people say he needs to develop his leadership qualities.
Like many young players in his position, Thomas sometimes relies too much on himself, leading to Lowe’s judgment of him.
With this one-year deal, he might be able to show growth, and perhaps that will stop people like Lowe from making these “ball hog” comments.
When the season comes to an end, Thomas could be in the market for a new team, and he will want to enter the summer as a hot commodity.
He thinks that people aren’t paying proper attention to him, but a lot more eyes will be on him during 2025-26 because his future and the future of the team are hanging in the balance.
