Cam Thomas feels he is capable of leading some of the best teams in the NBA, but he currently plays for the Brooklyn Nets.
That means Thomas isn’t able to experience the sort of success he dreams of, at least not right now.
It sounds like Thomas isn’t happy in Brooklyn and is looking to make a change.
According to Brian Lewis, he will be heading for the exit next summer after his one-season qualifying contract ends.
“Thomas opted to play out the coming season on the $5.99 million qualifying offer and become an unrestricted free agent next summer. It almost certainly points to a departure. Generally speaking, a player taking the qualifying offer signals the marriage being over, not just the honeymoon,” via Brian Lewis.
Cam Thomas is expected to leave the Nets by next summer, per @NYPost_Lewis

Last season, Thomas averaged 24.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists on 43.8 percent from the field.
It was his best season yet, but the Nets continue to struggle, and Thomas wants more for himself.
At 23 years old and with four seasons under his belt, Thomas could be hitting his stride right now.
He might be starting the most important and explosive portion of his career, and he doesn’t want to waste it on a team that isn’t going anywhere and refuses to pay him with a big, long-term deal.
If Thomas’ mind really is made up, he will use this next season as a way to improve his value and show other teams what he can do.
He wants numerous teams to battle for him next summer and will spend 2025-26 preparing for that.
Things can change in the months ahead, and perhaps Thomas decides to stay in Brooklyn, but it sounds like he has made a decision about his future.
