Calvin Johnson is one of the most legendary wide receivers to ever play in the NFL.
Too bad his whole career was spent with the Detroit Lions.
We bring up Johnson today because he is set to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this weekend.
Fans who watched “Megatron” know he is worthy of this great honor.
Unfortunately, fans around the country only saw Johnson in limited action during his Lions tenure.
The former No. 2 overall pick made the playoffs twice in his career, losing both times.
His relationship with the team got so bad he decided to retire in 2015.
Keep in mind he is still only 35 years old.
The relationship between Calvin Johnson and the Lions has been well documented, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that he's playing it safe in his Hall of Fame speech. He did, however, have some kind words for former teammates Matthew Stafford and Tony Scheffler. pic.twitter.com/C4VhJOylnm

The Issue At Hand
Johnson is not on speaking terms with his old team due to the organization asking him to repay some of his signing bonus upon retirement.
The team is trying to fix this, but Johnson does not seem interested.
He felt he gave enough to the organization and earned that money, which he does have a case to make for that.
This may be a situation that just takes time.
There is nothing the great receiver has against the fans.
It is all about the organization and the Georgia native has no real connection to the Lions at this point in time.
Fun Johnson Memories
The Lions stunk with Johnson in town and he left on awful terms.
But he still put up mind-boggling numbers during his time in town.
Johnson was a 1,000-yard receiver in seven different years and even had 16 touchdowns in 2011.
Matthew Stafford threw the ball up and his reliable “Megatron” target usually came down with the ball.
The thing with Johnson is that he also commanded double-teams all the time.
That opened up the field for Stafford and the rest of the offense.
Unfortunately, the team had far too many problems to overcome.
Going 0-16 in 2008 with Johnson on the roster proves that point.
How can you go 0-16 with a legendary receiver on the field?
Every single Lions fan likely has a colorful response to that question.

Johnson is set to be enshrined this weekend and he remains as one of the best receivers in NFL history.
It is just sad to see how Lions greats go out.
First it was Barry Sanders‘ early retirement on an awful Detroit team.
Next up was Johnson, and Stafford was traded to Los Angeles this offseason.
The team certainly lacks a proper culture and ownership is hoping Dan Campbell can change that right away.
Fans looking to relive some great memories can watch Johnson receive his honor this weekend and cheer for the great receiver who shocked fans on a weekly basis.
