During the offseason, the Golden State Warriors were one of the more aggressive teams on the trade market, as it has been reported they were in trade talks with the Utah Jazz to acquire Lauri Markkanen, and when that didn’t come to fruition, they tried to land Karl-Anthony Towns in a deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves before he was traded to the New York Knicks.
In the end, the Warriors brass was unable to make a deal to bring in another star following the departure of Klay Thompson, who decided to leave the team in favor of joining forces with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving on the Dallas Mavericks.
With the Warriors falling flat in their attempts to make a big addition to the roster, the consensus was an aging team with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green leading the way would struggle in a stacked Western Conference during the 2024-25 campaign.
However, that hasn’t been the case, as the Warriors have been one of the best teams in the league over the first few weeks, sporting an impressive record of 7-1.
ESPN insider Brian Windhorst said that has a lot to do with head coach Steve Kerr carrying over his Olympic experience from Team USA.
“It’s actually Steve Kerr taking his Olympic experience, applying it to this team, and it’s working,” Windhorst said, via NBA on ESPN.

Whether it is Kerr’s experience winning the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics or not, the fact is that the Warriors are firing on all cylinders and could be a legitimate NBA title contender if they can continue to play at a high level.
It’s not out of the realm of possibility that the Warriors continue to try to acquire another star in a trade, with Windhorst also mentioning the team’s desire to do so at some point before the NBA trade deadline.
