The Milwaukee Brewers currently lead MLB in runs scored with 128.
Many of those runs came in their recent series against the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates.
As you probably know, the Pirates aren’t very good at baseball.
And their pitching staff is not particularly good.
The same can be said about the Cincinnati Reds, who are even worse than the Pirates, and had to play Milwaukee recently.
The Brewers predictably feasted against bad pitching units, but tougher tests lie ahead.
“With their recent offensive barrage against the Pirates and Reds, the Brewers are tied with the Yankees for tops in MLB with 35 home runs up to second at 4.92 runs per game and 10th at 108 wRC+. Series starts tonight against the Braves, who are 22nd in ERA but 10th in FIP,” Brewers writer for MLB.com Adam McCalvy tweeted.

Tougher Competition
The Braves’ pitching staff is much better than what Milwaukee has faced in the last few days.
It has Charlie Morton, Ian Anderson, and Max Fried, plus a solid bullpen.
Red-hot hitters such as Willy Adames, Christian Yelich, and Rowdy Tellez are going to face some legitimate MLB talent on the mound.
Depending on your view, it may be generous to call the Reds or the Pirates’ staffs as filled with MLB talent.
Perhaps that’s a bit harsh, but the Reds look awful in 2022 and the Pirates haven’t competed for years.
The Brewers’ hitters did what they needed to do against them, but the Braves’ series will be a better assessment of their true talent level.
The teams already had a playoff series last year that went to the Braves.
In addition to proving they can mash against top pitching, Milwaukee will be surely looking for some on-field revenge.
