Freddie Freeman is one of the top free agents still available, and it looks as if it’s between the defending World Series champion Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers for where the star first baseman will ultimately choose to sign.
Freeman has played 12 seasons with Atlanta, but is from Southern California, so it remains to be seen if he will choose the team that drafted and developed him or his hometown Dodgers.
The entire baseball world awaits his decision, including Braves third baseman Austin Riley, who says he is constantly checking Twitter for updates on the Freeman sweepstakes, hoping he’ll return to Atlanta.

Riley Doing What Fans Do
Riley is pretty much all of us right now.
The entire baseball world is waiting to see what will happen in the Freeman sweepstakes, as is the case with any free agent when it’s down to just two teams.
Spring training is already underway, with games beginning on Thursday, and as teams scramble to finalize their 2022 rosters, one can’t help but wonder what will happen next, and where Freeman, as well as the other major free agents will ultimately sign.
The Braves aren’t doomed if Freeman leaves, as they have been checking in on Oakland A’s first baseman Matt Olson, who appears to be their fallback option if Freeman bolts for the Dodgers, but Riley clearly hopes the Braves retain their star first baseman.
All he wants is to have his teammate back in Atlanta, and one can’t blame him for constantly checking Twitter for updates.
It’s what the common fan would do.
We’ll find out soon enough if Freeman stays or goes and whether or not Riley gets his wish to have Freeman back in Atlanta as the Braves look to defend their title.
