The Atlanta Braves may be going through the “easy” part of their schedule, but they are doing their job and then some, winning 14 straight games.
Their latest victory came on Wednesday night against the Washington Nationals, 8-2.
“The Braves beat the Nationals, 8-2. That’s 14 in a row, tying the 2013 team for the second-longest winning streak in the modern era. The Braves scored 27 runs on 37 hits, and hit 13 homers, in the series. They are 4.5 games back of the Mets. Atlanta is 37-27,” Braves beat writer Justin Toscano tweeted.

The Mets lost later in the night, so the difference is now just four games.
At one point, it was closer to 10 games, but the Mets haven’t quite had the winning pace as the red-hot Braves.
The Braves Are Getting Closer And Closer
Not only are the Braves keeping pace with the Mets by not losing, but they have been getting closer and closer because the Mets have been dropping a few games here and there.
It’s not like the Mets are collapsing: they are 6-4 in their last 10 games.
But they have their two best starters on the shelf with injuries and still a couple of weeks away, at least.
It’s important to point out that the Braves’ winning streak has come against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Colorado Rockies, the Oakland Athletics, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Nationals.
Those are all mediocre to bad squads, so their opposition’s level of competition hasn’t been the highest recently.
In any case, they have to go out there and win those games, and that’s exactly what they have done.
The Braves and Mets will likely be fighting for the NL East lead all year long.
