A couple of weeks ago, the Atlanta Braves were 23-27, in third place of the National League East division.
They won the World Series trophy last year, but weren’t really playing like a team that just won the last edition of the Fall Classic.
But baseball has a very long season, one that enables really good teams to show their talent and worth eventually.
After a 13-game winning streak, the Braves are now 36-27.
That’s more like it!
Atlanta is just five games behind the New York Mets for the NL East lead, quite an accomplishment considering how dominant the Mets have looked at times.
Right now, the Braves are chasing some history with their ongoing winning streak.
“Longest win streaks by defending World Series champions: 1953 Yankees: 18; 1931 A’s: 17; 1935 Cardinals: 14; 2022 Braves: 13*; 1954 Yankees: 13; 1931 A’s: 13 * = active streak,” MLB statistician Sarah Langs tweeted.

Can The Braves Go For The Record?
With their 13th win in a row, Atlanta tied the 1954 New York Yankees and the 1931 Philadelphia A’s.
If they win their next game, they will tie the 1935 St. Louis Cardinals, with 14.
Up ahead are the 1931 A’s (yes, again) with 17 and the 1953 Yankees with 18.
Can the Braves keep their momentum going and win 19 straight games?
That would be a record in MLB.
In any case, they are looking a lot better now, with some incredible offensive performances fueled by the long ball and some solid pitching to help them navigate through innings.
It’s too early to say if the 2022 edition of the Braves has what it takes to win the World Series again, but it’s safe to say they will be in the playoff hunt by virtue of their excellent all-around play and the expanded postseason format.
