Heading into the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, all anyone could talk about was Victor Wembanyama and his debut for the San Antonio Spurs.
The No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft has taken the league by storm, with many anticipating him to be the NBA’s next superstar, and that led to fever-pitch anticipation for him to get on the floor at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The Wembanyama hype was so crazy that the debut of No. 2 overall pick Brandon Miller of the Charlotte Hornets in Las Vegas took a backseat and wasn’t talked about.
Ironically enough, these two top picks went head-to-head in Summer League, with Miller getting a taste of what it will be like to go up against the superstar-in-the-making.
He explained what that was like on” Podcast P” with Paul George.
"He's like an animal. There ain't no position for him." 😳

Although Wembanyama had a rough debut against Miller and company, as he failed to make an impression offensively, the Spurs’ top pick bounced back with a vengeance in his second and what turned out to be his final game in Las Vegas.
Wembanyama lit up the scoreboard and filled up the stat sheet in his second game by putting up 27 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks on 9-of-14 shooting, going 2-for-4 from beyond the arc.
Before the Spurs shut him down for the rest of the Summer League, Wembanyama put the league on notice, as he showed what San Antonio can expect on a nightly basis from the French phenom.
It’ll be interesting to see if Wembanyama can play consistently well for the Spurs and how that will impact the franchise moving forward.
