The San Francisco 49ers may have lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in last year’s Super Bowl, but that hasn’t stopped them from entering the 2024 NFL season as the favorites to once again represent the NFC.
The 49ers have been all-in on a Super Bowl championship for years, and for good reason given the state of their roster.
San Francisco has arguably the best offensive position group in the league and it’s coupled with a ferocious defense that can shut down opposing teams.
Under head coach Kyle Shanahan, the 49ers should be able to win just about any matchup though now it comes down to executing down the stretch of games.
Reasons for optimism only shot up more when the team was able to keep Brandon Aiyuk and sign him to an extension.
There were rumblings that Aiyuk was going to get dealt to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but it appears the star wideout may have canceled those plans last minute via Josh Rowntree of 93.7 The Fan.
“Jay Glazer just said the 49ers were finalizing the trade with the #Steelers when Brandon Aiyuk showed up & met with Kyle Shanahan. Shanahan ran upstairs and told Lynch to put the trade talks on hold. Seems like Aiyuk was minutes away from coming to Pittsburgh. Wow.”

Aiyuk grew disgruntled over his contract situation and requested a trade, though he turned down potential suitors like the Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots.
The Steelers seemed incredibly close to landing the talented wideout, but instead Aiyuk will continue to chase a title in the Bay Area.
