The New York Jets have had their fair share of struggles over the past couple of years.
Now, they will have to hit the drawing board again and start over with a new general manager and head coach.
Needless to say, they will have no shortage of potential candidates.
They’ve already been tied to the likes of Mike Vrabel.
With that in mind, former NFL star QB Boomer Esiason had a rather interesting suggestion.
He took to X to state that perhaps they should consider hiring the Los Angeles Rams’ offensive coordinator to be their next head coach, as the Rams are a tough running football team with a balanced passing attack.
The assistant coach he’s talking about is Mike LaFleur.

He was the Jets’ offensive coordinator until 2023.
The Jets then replaced him with Nathaniel Hackett, and the rest, as we’ve seen, is history.
Granted, the Jets’ offense wasn’t proficient with LaFleur at the helm, but it was a matter of execution, not play-calling or scheming.
The team didn’t have a good quarterback at the time, and there was only so much he could do.
LaFleur, just like all of Sean McVay’s assistant coaches, will most likely draw some consideration for a head coaching position at some point in the future, perhaps as early as this offseason.
Whether the Jets will want to bring him back or if he would agree to return to that franchise, however, might be a different story.
