The Brooklyn Nets experienced their first game in a post-Kevin Durant world on Thursday night.
They took on the Chicago Bulls and pulled out an impressive 116-105 victory at home.
It was a big game for a few stars on Brooklyn’s roster, including Cam Thomas, Joe Harris, and newcomer Spencer Dinwiddie.
As for Ben Simmons, it was another mixed bag for the struggling star.
Simmons posted 8 points and 8 rebounds, nearly netting a double-double.
That’s commendable, although he’d rather forget one particular moment in the game.

As the third quarter came to a close, Simmons put up a deep three-pointer, practically from the mid-court logo.
And it didn’t even come close.
The airball was not shocking.
In fact, the only thing that shocked fans was that Simmons tried the shot at all.
On one hand, it’s admirable for him to attempt a bucket like that.
He has become infamous for being seemingly afraid of shooting baskets, no matter how big or small.
On the other hand, his offensive output has been quite dreadful all season long.
He is posting an average of just 7.3 points a game.
All of this has led to the Nets being ready to move on from Simmons.
There was a lot of speculation that he would have been traded by the deadline this week but they ended up keeping him, possibly because no deal came together.
Rumors across the league have suggested that there isn’t another team willing to take on Simmons, his contract, and his inconsistent performances.
Now that Kyrie Irving and Durant are gone, Simmons might get a lot more responsibilities for the team.
That means that moments like this one from Thursday simply cannot happen often.
