The Pittsburgh Steelers aren’t known for their blockbuster trades or for making big changes to the roster or personnel.
That’s why getting D.K. Metcalf wasn’t necessarily on brand with them.
That’s also why Ben Roethlisberger felt the need to tip his hat to his former organization.
When asked about the trade, the legendary quarterback gushed about the fact that they now have two star wide receivers, adding that they just needed someone to throw them the ball now (via Steelers Depot):
“To do something like that was kind of unorthodox to the Steelers in a sense…which was awesome. Five for $150 [million] for the Pittsburgh Steelers- that’s unheard of outside the building. But for a guy that, it was evident they needed a dude, and they got a dude, and now you got two dudes … You just gotta get somebody to get the dudes the ball,” he said.

Clearly, Roethlisberger is still not a big fan of Mason Rudolph.
He was there by his side for years, and it seems like he never liked what he saw, as he still doesn’t think he can be their guy.
Truth be told, it’s hard to disagree with that.
Rudolph is a high-end backup, but the Steelers need some consistent quarterback play if they want to return to contention.
They’re still waiting on Aaron Rodgers to make up his mind, and while it seems like he’s going to play for them, you never know what he’s going to do.
Even if he does sign with them, he will most likely retire after one or two years at the most.
The Steelers have struggled on offense for years now, and while poor quarterback play had plenty to do with that, the lack of another weapon in the passing game was also a factor.
Now, with Pickens and Metcalf running wild down the field, opposing teams will have a very tough time containing this two-headed monster.
