The Detroit Lions head into their NFC divisional-round matchup against the Washington Commanders boasting the NFL’s most formidable offense.
Leading the league in scoring and ranking second in total offense, the Lions are about to get even stronger with running back David Montgomery’s return from a knee injury suffered in Week 15.
Instead of opting for surgery, Montgomery chose an aggressive rehabilitation path, defying initial fears that his season was over.
His return has backfield partner Jahmyr Gibbs particularly excited.
“I missed him a lot. Just being around him every day, then not being around him every day was so much different. Just being on the sideline with him, just cracking jokes and stuff, and just watching him play, because he’s a great player. I just love watching what he does. I mean, it’s gonna be fun to get back to what we was doing,” Gibbs said, via Brad Galli of WXYZ Detroit.

Together, they’ve been instrumental in the Lions’ offensive success throughout the season, creating matchup nightmares for defenses with their versatile skill sets.
