The Philadelphia Eagles stole a big one.
Saquon Barkley will no longer be a Giant, leaving the team to join their divisional foes.
Needless to say, he faced some backlash over this decision, with former Giants star RB Tiki Barber claiming that he was ‘dead to us.’
However, most people acknowledge that he did everything he could to stay with the Giants and they didn’t value him enough, so it only makes sense that he pursues a new opportunity somewhere else.
With that in mind, NFL legend Barry Sanders, perhaps the greatest running back of all time, took to Twitter to voice his support for the Penn State product.
“I know you wanted to stay with one team, but life has funny turns. No matter what, the character you have as a young man will carry you thru all you face. Can wait to see you run that rock,” Sanders said.
Congrats to @saquon – I know you wanted to stay with one team, but life has funny turns. No matter what, the character you have as a young man will carry you thru all you face. Can wait to see you run that rock.@Eagles @NFL

He made sure to let everybody know that Barkley actually wanted to stay with the team for the remainder of his career, but that wasn’t possible.
He believes that his character and personality will lead him to success regardless of where he plays, and he seems excited about watching him with the Eagles.
The move made too much sense for Barkley.
He was getting a very lucrative deal with guaranteed money.
He’d also play behind an elite offensive line and with an elite set of offensive talent, which is something he never had in the Big Apple.
On top of that, he’s a professional athlete with a hurt ego, and that also came into play here.
He’ll have an opportunity to remind the Giants what they could’ve had twice a year, and that may have sealed the deal for him.
