After the Los Angeles Rams beat the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football, they made a potentially huge impact on the Detroit Lions.
The Lions traded quarterback Matthew Stafford to the Rams in the 2021 offseason and received the Rams’ 2023 first-round pick in the process.
With the Rams’ win last night, that pick got just a bit worse for the Lions.
Lions would’ve been sitting at No. 2 with a Rams loss. Probably will slide to at least No. 5 by the end of the weekend because of the Mayfield Miracle. https://t.co/OR8eqc0PS5

Currently, the Rams’ pick is fourth overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.
However, if the Arizona Cardinals or Carolina Panthers lose this week, that pick could easily move to fifth or sixth.
With Baker Mayfield now at the helm of the Rams, they have new life for this season.
They have the energy to go on a late season run, which is potentially detrimental to the future of the Lions.
This first-round pick has the potential to keep moving back in the draft, assuming the Rams keep winning.
The 2023 NFL Draft – A Tale Of Two Teams
The Lions not only hold the Rams’ first-round pick, but also their own.
Winners of four of their last five games, if the draft were to happen tomorrow, the Lions would pick fourth and fifteenth.
This draft has the potential for the Lions to add some serious talent, to both their defense and offense.
The Rams, however, will not pick until the second round.
With a team that is only getting older, and has a lot of expensive players on the payroll, the Rams will need to ensure that they pick wisely in the second round.
Otherwise, their 2023 season could look a lot like 2022.
