The media and critics can say what they want about Russell Westbrook, but Austin Reaves of the Los Angeles Lakers is a very big fan of his former teammate.
Reaves sat down on “The Lowe Post” and spoke about his experiences with Westbrook.
He talked about a particular time when Westbrook showed his support to Reaves after a tough game.
Following a preseason game in which Reaves went 1-of-8 from the three-point line, Westbrook commended Reaves on his shooting.
Surprised, Reaves thought that Westbrook was joking but he was completely serious.
“As long as you’re shooting, you ain’t gonna hear anything from me,” Westbrook told him.
Reaves said that there are few teammates as supportive as Westbrook.
There is a reason why so many people who once played with the star go on to praise him after their time together, Reaves claims.
There have been multiple people who have stood up for Westbrook over the years.
He has experienced some rough patches throughout the last few seasons and there have been many people who have said biting and hurtful things about Westbrook.
But the people who know him best say he is not only a talented player and good man but also a great teammate too.
Some Lakers fans might take issue with his insistence on shooting the ball.
There were times when he made bone-headed mistakes and attempted shots that weren’t wise.
He certainly had his fair share of missteps while playing for the Lakers and ultimately wasn’t a good fit for the team.
But he was a supportive peer and pushed his teammates forward.
That is why men like Reaves are still so fond of him.
