The Los Angeles Lakers are trying to find ways to build upon the success they had in the second half of last season.
Therefore, they are hoping all players step up and perform a bit better in the new season.
Lakers breakout star Austin Reaves spoke with Zach Lowe on “The Lowe Post” and said that one of the team’s biggest stars, Anthony Davis, may do just that.
Reaves spoke of a minicamp that LeBron James held for the team recently and said that everyone was there and shooting quite well.
He added:
“AD is shooting the ball really well right now. Something I’ve tried to get him to do more is get his shooting. Cause if he does that at a very decent level, which he can…literally you can’t guard him.”
Reaves said that Davis is a naturally talented shooter and has shown that before.
The Lakers’ run during the Orlando Bubble showed a side of Davis that hasn’t been seen too often since.
He is known as a great defender and is able to score well, particularly when he is positioned down in the paint.
But if Davis can start creating points from further back and at the perimeter, the rest of the NBA will be on notice.
Reaves is right: he would be very hard to block.
For years now, people have been waiting for Davis to take over the reins of the team and become its central leader.
That probably won’t happen as long as James is playing for the team.
But Davis can still become even more impactful for the Lakers.
He’s already one of the best players in the world – what happens if he gets even better?
