The New York Yankees haven’t had the best start to their season this year.
Despite sitting a few games above the .500 mark and being within striking distance in the standings, the Yankees are in last place in the American League East division.
However, they have won three games in a row.
On Wednesday, their new star shortstop Anthony Volpe hit his first career grand slam as they rolled to an 11-3 victory over the Oakland Athletics.
However, it was no ordinary grand slam.
Aside from it being Volpe’s first grand slam, it actually landed in a similar spot to where Derek Jeter’s grand slam in 2005 landed at the old Yankee Stadium.
On Twitter, a side-by-side comparison of the two grand slams was posted to show just how similar they were.
Anthony Volpe gets his first grand slam that landed in the same spot as Derek Jeter's in 2005. Volpe was humble to say ""I was pumped to get those runs in for the team."#Yankees #MLB #RepBX #Athletics pic.twitter.com/aoBuyA7zC2

While the two grand slams came in different ballparks, they landed in similar locations.
The new Yankee Stadium isn’t too different from the old Yankee Stadium.
But Volpe now shares a rare distinction with a Yankees legend, with both having hit their first career grand slams to almost the exact same spot.
Jeter’s grand slam came 18 years ago against the Chicago Cubs.
While it’s tough to compare Volpe to Jeter, especially with Volpe so early in his career, it is interesting to note where both grand slams ended up going.
Volpe is on pace to potentially make some noise in the race for the Rookie of the Year Award in the American League, and is also reminding fans of a franchise legend in the process.
