Surprising no one, the Phoenix Suns took down the Los Angeles Lakers in a big way on Sunday night.
The best team in the West beat the struggling Lakers 140-111 at home and once against exposed LA’s weaknesses on both ends of the court.
Few people expected the Lakers to overcome the Suns so the loss wasn’t shocking, even though the margin of victory was a bit startling.
What caused such an explosion of points from Phoenix?
According to their star player, comments from Anthony Davis only made them want to win even more.
Devin Booker with a smile says the Suns did see this.

Recently, Davis was asked about the Suns taking the Lakers out in the first round of the playoffs last year.
Davis suggested the groin injury that forced him to miss most of the series was the only reason the Suns won, saying, “They got away with one.”
When asked about Davis’ comments on Sunday, Suns guard Devin Booker said his team did see those comments from Davis.
Booker said the game would have gone down the way it did with or without the words from Davis but it’s undeniable that it gave them more reason to fight hard.
Suns Shining Too Bright For LA
There is no doubt that the Suns are a far, far better team than the Lakers.
Davis can talk about last year’s first-round loss all he wants but it cannot be denied that the Suns are on a whole other level than the Lakers – or any other team in the NBA right now.
They are currently the best team in the league and even without Chris Paul, who is currently injured, the team is taking down opponents left and right.
Davis’ comments might get them fired up but the biggest motivation the Suns have right now is to once again make the Finals and do what they couldn’t last year: win it all.
