The Orlando Magic added Desmond Bane to their lineup a few days ago, which may end up being a huge and smart change that helps them far into the future.
However, it could also be a mistake.
Speaking on his show, Bomani Jones said he doesn’t see things working out well for the Magic.
“[The Magic] don’t have a frontline superstar. So, to me, without the presence of a frontline superstar, I don’t understand what they’re doing. I do not feel as good about the idea that what is your team with your two best players being Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner? I don’t feel like this is salad days forever. I think that Desmond Bane is another guy that qualifies as being a low spade,” Jones said, via NBACentral.

Bane is a talented star and has done great things for the Grizzlies.
Therefore, he can also bring the Magic a lot of help, including much-needed offense.
But Jones doesn’t see him as a “frontline superstar” and feels the team is still lacking that one-of-a-kind, leading talent who can push them forward.
There is a lot of young and explosive skill with the Magic, but they will need more than that, Jones said.
The team only has a limited window, which also needs to be considered.
While no one on the roster is going to retire soon, the front office knows they need to find more success soon, or else bigger changes will be needed.
This Bane trade will have to deliver something tangible in the new season, or people will question what Orlando is doing.
They can make promises to their fans for so long, but eventually, they will have to deliver.
Will this be the lineup they deliver with?
