The stakes have never been higher for Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos.
Some gave Wilson a pass for his terrible year last season, but he won’t have the benefit of the doubt again in 2023.
He looked far from the player he used to be with the Seattle Seahawks, and he’ll have a huge target on his back from Week One.
That’s why former NFL player Ryan Clark believes no player will be under more scrutiny than Wilson.
Per Clark, every single time he doesn’t throw the football well or plays up to his level, he’ll be a subject of discussion on every sports show on Mondays, and he even believes he could be benched in favor of Jarrett Stidham at some point in the season.
He’s not the first person to share that theory.
As much as they have raved about each other, HC Sean Payton has always been about accountability and developing winning habits and a winning culture, so he won’t hesitate to bench Wilson if he’s not playing up to his standards.
The Broncos are paying him a lot of money and they’d obviously hate to give up that much to have a guy sitting on the bench.
But this is a cruel business, and no one cares about what you did in the past.
