The Cleveland Browns proved last season that this team is more than its stars on the offensive side of the football, with head coach Kevin Stefanski doing a great job of helping this team make the NFL playoffs after losing star quarterback Deshaun Watson and superstar running back Nick Chubb to season-ending injuries early in the 2023 campaign.
Fortunately for Cleveland, the team got Watson back on the field for Week 1’s showdown against the Dallas Cowboys at Huntington Bank Stadium, even though Chubb is still working his way back to returning to the gridiron.
Although Watson was back leading the charge under center for the Browns on Sunday, Cleveland struggled from start to finish against arguably one of the best defenses in the league, led by superstar linebacker Micah Parsons, who put constant pressure on the veteran quarterback.
Watson couldn’t deal with the constant pressure from the Cowboys defense on Sunday, throwing for 169 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions while completing only 24 of the 45 passes he threw.
Zach Gelb believes that Watson is done being a star quarterback in the NFL.
“Deshaun Watson is cooked,” Gelb said. “I know he still has some years left on that contract, and it’s fully guaranteed, but Deshaun Watson’s time in Cleveland it may as well just be over.”

With Watson doing little to prove he’s the right man for the job under center in Cleveland in Week 1, the pressure will be on him moving forward to show he can be the star player the Browns thought they traded for in the deal with the Houston Texans.
Only time will tell if Watson can turn things around, but right now, the future looks bleak for the Browns at the quarterback position.
