One of the most anticipated matchups coming into Week 1 of the 2024 NFL regular season was the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns at Huntington Bank Stadium.
This matchup showcased two talented all-around teams, with the Browns and Cowboys having the ability to excel on both sides of the football with high-powered offenses and lockdown defenses.
Although this matchup looked good on paper and something that could be a battle from start to finish, the Cowboys dominated the Browns from start to finish, as Dallas was clearly the better all-around team, even though they were on the road to start the 2024 campaign.
One of the most concerning parts of this loss to the Cowboys in Cleveland was the play of veteran quarterback Deshaun Watson, who is coming off a season in which he only played six games before being lost for the year with a season-ending injury.
After the loss to the Cowboys, star wide receiver Amari Cooper was asked about Watson’s performance via Scott Petrak of The Chronicle-Telegram.
“Deshaun is Deshaun,” Cooper said. “Obviously, the game didn’t go the way we wanted it to go. We just got to execute better. We went out there and played a good Cowboys team. They’ve been good for a few years now, so it definitely takes a collective effort.”

The last thing Cooper will do is throw his quarterback under the bus after one bad performance to start the season against arguably one of the best defenses in the league, led by superstar linebacker Micah Parsons.
However, the Browns have an issue at quarterback that might need to be addressed early in the season if Watson can’t turn things around moving forward.
