The Tennessee Titans lost their chance at the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after teams like the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders managed to win games in the final stretch, knocking themselves out of the top spot.
This leaves Tennessee with the opportunity to potentially draft their next franchise quarterback.
In a class without an obvious No. 1 pick, it remains to be seen what the Titans will do with the pick, and one analyst recently shared what he believes the Titans should do with it.
“I think they should make everyone think that Cam Ward is the greatest player they’ve ever seen in their entire lives and try to trade back and maybe go down the Sam Darnold route,” Nate Tice said on “The Jim Rome Show.”

He mentioned that the Titans have better pieces than many people think, including J.C. Latham and Peter Skoronski on the left side of the offensive line, Calvin Ridley locked in at wide receiver, Jeffery Simmons still leading a solid defense in 2024, and more.
Tice suggested two-way Heisman winner Travis Hunter as an option if the team doesn’t trade down as well.
Trading down is always a fun idea, particularly for Tennessee, who traded down the last time it had the No. 1 pick in 2016 when it sent the top pick to the Los Angeles Rams, who selected Jared Goff.
However, this is a quarterback-driven league and always will be, and this franchise has a chance to take a swing at a potential high-ceiling rookie QB with the top pick.
This is a franchise that hasn’t had “the guy” at quarterback since Steve McNair, and as good as Sam Darnold was this season, that’s a tough sell to a tortured fanbase that is absolutely dying for a true franchise quarterback.
