Most NFL teams would’ve fired their head coach after going eight years without a playoff win.
This would have been even more true if those teams had been eliminated from the playoffs five consecutive times.
Nevertheless, the Pittsburgh Steelers aren’t like most teams.
Continuity is everything for them, and they still trust Mike Tomlin to lead the way.
Even so, some fans have lost their patience with their lifelong coach, who has never had a losing season but hasn’t led them past the Wild Card round in years.
With that in mind, Steelers analyst Andrew Fillipponi proposed a trade that would give the Steelers the Chicago Bears’ No. 10 pick, a first-round pick, and a third-round pick in 2026 in exchange for Tomlin.
Proposed trade:
Bears 1st round pick (10th overall) and 2026 1st for Mike Tomlin and a 2026 3rd.
I would make that trade in a second and drive Mike Tomlin to Chicago.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bears had already inquired about potentially trading for Coach Tomlin, but the Steelers immediately rejected the idea.
In addition, Tomlin’s contract includes a no-trade clause, so he would have to agree to any transaction beforehand.
Granted, the Steelers’ quarterback situation has been less than ideal for almost a decade now, and winning that way is hard.
Tomlin has still won multiple games he was expected to lose in the past, and he’s by no means a bad head coach.
As good a coach as he is, perhaps it’s time for a change and for the Steelers to go in a different direction.
