The Indianapolis Colts and Jonathan Taylor have officially reached a stalemate.
Weeks after team owner Jim Irsay claimed that they wouldn’t trade him despite his desires, the franchise has finally granted him permission to seek a trade.
That’s why NFL analyst Matt Miller believes the Buffalo Bills should roll the dice to try and get him.
Per Miller, spending a first-round pick on a young and talented back like him would be worth it, as the Bills are likely to pick at the end of the first round anyway.
The Bills should trade for Jonathan Taylor. A pick that would likely be in the 28-32 range for an elite young running back?
Cmon.
As long as he’s healthy*, they should be all over it.

That makes perfect sense on paper, but they may not be in that position after all.
Taylor is looking to get a massive pay raise and get paid as one of the best running backs in the league, which he is.
And the Bills’ salary cap situation is as tough as it gets, and whichever team that trades for Taylor needs to sign him to the kind of contract extension he’s currently looking for.
The Bills have struggled with a subpar running game for years now, and this season won’t be the exception to that rule, although James Cook figures to be an upgrade over most of their featured backs.
Sean McDermott’s team has featured a one-dimensional offense more often than not, and having a serviceable back could take plenty of pressure off Josh Allen’s shoulders, especially now that he’s been questioned.
For now, however, it’s hard to envision them making a move for the disgruntled running back, especially at such a steep price.
