At the midway point of the 2023 NFL Season, the Cleveland Browns’ chances looked bleak.
After Deshaun Watson’s injury, it seemed like this team was destined to miss the playoffs.
However, the Browns’ fate changed when Joe Flacco came to town.
Flacco got off the couch to quarterback the Browns, bringing them to the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
While they were one-and-done, Browns fans rallied behind Flacco, and it seemed like he had their full support.
With this in mind, the Browns will have a tough decision to make regarding his contract in the offseason.
Some analysts are under the impression that they should bring him back as an insurance policy for Watson.
However, Craig Carton presented an alternate viewpoint in a recent segment of his show.
“Joe Flacco’s not gonna be a Cleveland Brown, and that’s a lock,” Carton said.

In his mind, Flacco “stinks” and was well on his way to retirement before the Browns called him up last year.
Carton doesn’t think there is a free-agent market for the 39-year-old QB and that the Browns should think twice about signing him to a new deal.
After all, the Browns signed Watson to a massive, fully-guaranteed contract, and having Flacco on the roster could put more pressure on him, as Carton claims.
At the end of the day, the Browns will need to decide who they think will make the best impact on their team.
If that means bringing in Flacco as a backup option for one more year, that’s what they will end up doing.
