After a short stint with the New York Jets, Joe Flacco’s playing career in the NFL seemed to have come to an end, as he went unsigned to start the 2023 season.
At 38 years old at the time, the prospect of Flacco landing another job in the league and extending his career seemed slim to none, as he hadn’t played at a high level for quite some time.
Fortunately for the veteran quarterback, he was given another chance to shine on the NFL level, with the Cleveland Browns unable to keep their players at the position healthy and in desperate need of a player of his caliber with playoff experience.
Flacco flourished in Cleveland and played better than anyone expected while filling in Deshaun Watson, but now the question is whether he’ll be able to continue his playing career.
According to Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk, Flacco would prefer to return to the Browns for the 2024 NFL season.
“I can tell you that, all things equal, Cleveland is definitely the place where I’d feel best about,” Flacco said.

With Watson’s health always being in question and the need for a good insurance policy at the quarterback position, the Browns would be wise to get a deal done with Flacco to keep him in Cleveland for at least one more season.
In five regular-season games, Flacco threw for 1,616 yards, 13 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
Although Flacco still has the tendency to commit turnovers through the air, he’s still a formidable backup and someone the Browns shouldn’t let slip away in NFL free agency.
