New England Patriots fans were torn when it was announced that Jerod Mayo would be the team’s head coach before the 2024 season.
On one hand, Mayo was a beloved player when he was on the team, and fans thought he could be a good cultural fit for the team.
Others weren’t quite sure how he’d perform, mostly due to his lack of coaching experience.
While there weren’t many bad reports about his rapport with players or mutiny in the locker room, the Patriots decided to pull the plug after one season, electing to start 2025 with a brand-new coach.
Mike Vrabel’s name has been thrown out a lot during their hunt for a new coach, as he has already been on this coaching staff.
Analyst Eric Bedard talked about this situation in a recent segment of his show, indicating that it’s Vrabel’s job to lose at this point.
“I think there’s a 90 percent chance that Mike Vrabel is the next head coach of the New England Patriots,” Bedard said.
Greg gives it a 90% chance that Mike Vrabel is the next head coach of the New England Patriots.
And @AlbertBreer early today that he thinks the head coaching search is a sham.

Vrabel not only has the coaching experience that the Patriots are seemingly looking for, but he was well-regarded by Bill Belichick when he was on his staff.
Belichick’s name still carries a lot of weight in this organization, and Robert Kraft and the rest of the hiring team will take that into account when making this important decision.
The Patriots haven’t been the same since Tom Brady left, but 2025 could be their year to bounce back, assuming they find the right coach and new players to go along with them.
