The San Francisco 49ers have two delicate situations on their hands right now.
On the one hand, they still have to reach a deal with Nick Bosa.
On the other, it might be time to pull the plug on the Trey Lance experiment once and for all.
With that in mind, panelists on ESPN’s “First Take” debated which issue should be their biggest concern right now, to which Marcus Spears had a very interesting response.
Per Spears, the Niners need to do right by the star pass rusher, lauding his production and his impact.
"This may go down as one of the worst trades in the draft in the history of the NFL."

Moreover, he talked about HC Kyle Shanahan’s creativity in regards to how he always seems to find a way to make the offense click regardless of who’s at the quarterback position, adding that Brock Purdy is expected to be back to full strength by the start of the campaign.
Also, Spears didn’t mince his words when talking about Lance, stating that the draft-day trade to acquire him could go down as one of the worst trades in NFL Draft history, considering how much they had to give up to get him and how little he’s shown since he entered the league.
At this point, it’s hard to envision Lance ever finding his groove with the Niners, and he doesn’t even look like a lock to be QB2 anymore.
The Niners might be better off just cutting their losses and realizing that they have no use or room for him anymore and get whatever they can for him, hoping he finally finds his footing somewhere else.
