The trade deadline has officially passed, and Eduardo Rodriguez still finds himself wearing a Detroit Tigers uniform.
However, this almost was not the case, as the Tigers had agreed to a deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers that would have sent the veteran left-hander out west.
The deal was not to be, unfortunately, as the Dodgers were on Rodriguez’s 10-team no-trade list.
The lefty ultimately refused the trade, leaving fans confused as to why he wouldn’t want to play for a contender such as the Dodgers.
On Twitter, Chris Rose commented on the situation and reminded fans to not to be upset with Rodriguez over invoking his no-trade clause.
For people getting mad Eduardo Rodriguez nixed a deal to LAD, calm down.
Had a limited no-trade…invoked it. You don't know E-Rod's situation…neither do I.
Blame the Tigers for negotiating with a team on his no-trade list without Rodriguez's blessing. End of story.

Rose pointed out that fans don’t truly know Rodriguez’s situation, and that if anybody should be blamed, it would be the Tigers for negotiating a deal with the Dodgers before getting his blessing.
And so, with the deadline now having passed, Rodriguez remains with the Tigers.
The expectation was that the veteran left-hander and 2018 World Series champion would ultimately opt out of the remaining three years of his contract with the Tigers and hit the free agent market this coming winter.
Rodriguez should be a hot commodity this winter, as he joins a stacked market of starting pitchers that will also feature Blake Snell, Aaron Nola, Lucas Giolito, Julio Urias, James Paxton, Jordan Montgomery, and several others.
But for now, he’ll remain with the Tigers for the rest of the season before he ultimately hits the open market.
The lefty owns a 2.95 ERA and a record of 6-5 on the season.
