Detroit Tigers legend Miguel Cabrera was at center stage in Miami on Saturday, as the Marlins celebrated Venezuelan heritage day.
The Marlins were Cabrera’s first team, the one that gave him the chance to make his MLB debut in 2003 and win a World Series that year.
Speaking of Venezuelan sluggers, a reporter asked Cabrera which Venezuelan player is going to break all of his records, the way Cabrera himself did with Andres Galarraga’s.
Galarraga, if you can recall, was one of the game’s most impressive sluggers in the 80s and 90s, retiring with 399 home runs.
He predicted back in the day that Cabrera was going to be his heir.
Who is going to be that person for Cabrera?
He didn’t even hesitate in his answer: Ronald Acuna Jr.

The Atlanta Braves star is having a career season in 2023, with a .333/.415/.573 line, 24 home runs, and 51 stolen bases.
He looks on his way to win his first MVP award.
Cabrera stated how he thinks Acuna’s talent is in a tier of its own, and also mentioned Juan Soto and Shohei Ohtani as the truly elite players in the game at the moment.
At just 25 years old, Acuna already has 144 home runs and 158 stolen bases.
If he has good health throughout his career, he has a chance of surpassing Cabrera’s 508 round-trippers one day.
Judging by his talent, he will also win multiple MVP awards and possibly batting titles, too.
Only time will tell if Acuna will dominate an era the way Cabrera did in the late-2000s and early-2010s.
